Who would have thought? The covers of magazines have become very popular and collectible art items. Field and Stream, a magazine geared to the American outdoor sportsman, made its first appearance in 1895 and is still popular today. Its vintage covers are reminiscent of simpler, more peaceful times. Over the decades, LIFE magazine and Saturday Evening Post have provided a photographs and illustrations that chronicle our history and culture. Perhaps the two most popular contemporary magazines are TIME and Rolling Stone magazine. TIME covers typically portray key figures from the annals of history and politics, while Rolling Stone celebrates the icons of music. Decades after being published, these magazine covers continue to enchant and intrigue, and many are available as collectible posters or prints.
