Paris

The capital city of France, Paris sits along the River Seine and is home to nearly 13 million residents. "The City of Light" acquired its nickname in 1826 when it became the first city in Europe to light its main street, Champs Elysees, with gas lamps. Paris is rich with culture and home to many memorable landmarks such as The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Monet's Garden. More tourists visit Paris than any other city in the world, with more than 30 million foreign visitors each year. For centuries, its beauty has beckoned to lovers, and today it is still one of the most popular places for rendezvous and romance.
